Hiawatha Northington II primarily practices in the area of civil litigation. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.B.A. in Accounting from Jackson State University in 1993 and went on to obtain his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where he served on The Review of Litigation.

After graduating from law school in 1996, Hiawatha clerked for Justice C.R. “Chuck” McRae of the Supreme Court of Mississippi. During the course of his practice, he has represented hundreds of individuals and small businesses in cases involving car, truck, commercial and common carrier accidents; complex medical negligence matters; automotive, industrial and pharmaceutical products liability matters; consumer fraud claims; employment disputes; and various types of commercial litigation on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. He has also represented defendants during investigation, trial and appeal of white-collar criminal matters.

Hiawatha is admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern District of Mississippi and the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, the Supreme Court of Mississippi, and the Supreme Court of Texas. He is also a mediator in the State of Mississippi, affiliated with ADR Services International, Inc and Mississippi Mediation and Arbitration.

Hiawatha is a member of the Texas Bar, the Mississippi Bar, the National Bar Association, and the Magnolia Bar Association. He has served on the Diversity in the Law Committee of the Mississippi Bar, the Amicus Committee of the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association, and the Legal Nurse Consulting Advisory Board of Virginia College at Jackson, Mississippi.

A Barrister in the Charles Clark Inns of Court in Jackson, Mississippi, Hiawatha has also served as speaker and lecturer to the American Association for Justice (formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America), the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association, and the Magnolia Bar Association. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and in 2001, he was named Lawyer of the Year by the Mississippi Conference of the Branches of the NAACP.

Hiawatha is also active within his community, serving as a Founder, Vice Polemarch and Polemarch of the Canton-Madison (MS) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Oaks House Museum. He has also served in the past as a youth basketball coach and on the Board of Directors of the Crossroads Film Society.
